چکیده
Ulva rigida seaweed is constituted by ulvan, which a sulfated polysaccharide with uses in wide variety of applications. After the ulvan-oriented extraction process, crystalline and recalcitrant residue, so-called pulp, appears. In this work, residue was valorized through multiple-stage process. The total processing algae consists hot water extraction, acid hydrolysis, ABE fermentation, distillation order to obtain not only ulvan but also butanol bioethanol be used as biofuels simulating two third-generation algae-based biorefineries Aspen Plus v10 software. Techno-economic analysis of extraction-based separation systems for acetone, butanol, and ethanol recovery and purification
BACKGROUND Dual extraction, high-temperature extraction, mixture extraction, and oleyl alcohol extraction have been proposed in the literature for acetone, butanol, and ethanol (ABE) production. However, energy and economic evaluation under similar assumptions of extraction-based separation systems are necessary. Hence, the new process proposed in this work, direct steam distillation (DSD), for...
متن کاملTechno-Economic Analysis of Biofuel Production from Macroalgae (Seaweed)
A techno-economic evaluation of bioenergy production from macroalgae was carried out in this study. Six different scenarios were examined for the production of different energy products and by-products. Seaweed was produced either via the longline method or the grid method. Final products of these scenarios were either ethanol from fermentation, or electricity from anaerobic digestion (AD). By-...
متن کاملTechno-economic analysis of lignocellulosic ethanol: A review.
Lignocellulosic ethanol is expected to be commercialised during the next decade as renewable energy for transport. Competiveness with first generation bioethanol and with gasoline is commonly considered in techno-economic analyses for commercial stage. Several existing reviews conclude about the high spread of current and projected production costs of lignocellulosic ethanol due to the signific...
متن کاملTechno-economic analysis and climate change impacts of sugarcane biorefineries considering different time horizons
BACKGROUND Ethanol production from lignocellulosic feedstocks (also known as 2nd generation or 2G ethanol process) presents a great potential for reducing both ethanol production costs and climate change impacts since agricultural residues and dedicated energy crops are used as feedstock. This study aimed at the quantification of the economic and environmental impacts considering the current an...
